Working out lends you the opportunity to improve upon your well-being. The dynamic and eclectic city, Dubai, by virtue of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council for Dubai Government, provides a medium for the Palm Jumeirah residents and visitors to participate in a 30-day work-out through Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC).

Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) is a 30-day free work-out event which is held annually. Events start daily at 7:00 am and include a lot of workout programs. Participants are required to work out 30-minutes on different programs daily, throughout the usually 30-day period of the event. This is the rationale behind the tag, Dubai 30X30.
During the DFC in general, with myriad free activities and events throughout the 30-day health and fitness initiative, the Palm Jumeirah transforms into a workout wonderland. And given that it’s all-inclusive, it gives people the opportunity not only to work out but also to get to know one another, meet new friends as well as get together as a family in an insouciant air. It is clearly a perfect medium to frolic onto well-being.
The event is a perfect fit for the family given that it admits people of all ages, fitness levels, sexes and all walks of life. It even admits people with disabilities and pregnant women, although pregnant women are advised to consult a physician before taking part in the event. This should help them come to know which work out programs would be good for them.
There’s no rigid rule that you must start at the beginning of it, although it is recommended that you take the whole 30-day event.
The DFC was launched in 2017 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed and Chairman of the Executive Council for Dubai Government. The first DFC held in that year, according to Ali Rashid Lootah, chairman of Nakheel, the developer which built the Palm Jumeirah, was a huge success.
In the 2017 DFC event, Nakheel’s staff clocked up more than 300 hours of physical activity. And to mark its grand finale for the event, Nakheel topped off its efforts with 300 staff hiking 15 km to the summit of Jebel Jais, the highest mountain in the UAE. The second DFC was held in 2018, spanning 26 October to 24 November. It saw two energizing Weekend Carnivals, five dedicated Fitness Villages, more than 8,000 free classes, events and community-led activities and up to 5,000 people a day during the first two weeks.
The DFC event is designed to span 30 days on the bases that studies have shown that it takes approximately 30 days to make a significant change in a person’s health and well-being.
Generally, the DFC’s activities include aerobic and anaerobic exercises. Specifically, they includes:
The rendezvous or venue for the DFC is the Palm Jumeirah Fitness Village located in Al Ittihad Park at Palm Jumeirah. According to Ali Rashid Lootah, “Al Ittihad Park … is the perfect venue to bring residents, visitors and employees together to get involved in … [the] wonderful [DFC] initiative.”
The Palm Jumeirah Fitness Village is presented by Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) in association with Nakheel.
The most chief attraction of the park is the 3.2km Glow Run, a jogging track. The entire track gets lit up at night. You can have a cheerful time with family and friends on the track, and discover new places the track boasts such as Electric Rainforest, Teddy Bear Lane, Colour Brick Road, Pillar Party, and Party Zone.
Other attractions in the park include the Sports Club zone, the Family Zone, and the Health and Wellness section.
The Sports Club zone includes The DFC Run Club, The DFC Bootcamp Club, Al Ittihad Park Run Club, Mum and Strollers Walking Club and Group running clubs events and training, the Family Zone includes Les Mills Born to Move and Disney Fitness workouts, while the Free health and fitness tests with Mediclinic and Chill Out and Relazation Area.
