News: Residents Returning To Dubai Necessarily Need A GDRFA Approval

Dubai has said residents of the city returning to it NECESSARILY need an entry permit.

The UAE and of course Dubai has opened after months of lockdown and attendant challenges amidst the Coronavirus pandemic and people are now allowed to visit Dubai again, although conditionally.

Last week, NCEMA reached the decision that residents returning to the UAE would NOT need an entry permit. Contrary to that, Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management made a Dubai exception known, namely residents who’d be returning or traveling to Dubai are still required to apply for an entry permit through the GDRFA – Dubai website.

All Residents Must Have A COVID-19 Negative Test Along With GDRFA Approval

  • You need to show the approval and negative COVID-19 test before boarding and on arrival.
  • All returning residents must download the COVID-19 DXB Smart App.
  • The mandatory 14 day quarantine is not valid if you present a negative COVID test.

A question still hangs over whether residents from other emirates traveling through Dubai need GDRFA approval. If you’re unsure, contact the airline you’re traveling with and follow their recommendations. People traveling directly to other emirates like Abu Dhabi and Sharjah are required of this permit.

PSA: DHA is reminding all Dubai citizens and returning residents to treat wearing a face mask at all times as the NEW normal!

The UAE has been using police dogs as an additional defence against the novel coronavirus, thus you are still required to abide by travel regulations and guidelines to curb the spread of the virus, such as undergo a PCR-testing on arrival and wear a mask at all times.
