Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum made a headline with his visit to the UAE Cycling Tour 2019 on Wednesday, February 27th. This was the fourth stage of the event, entitled Dubai Municipality.
197km-long, the fourth stage constitutes the longest stage of the tour. It isn’t merely the longest route or stage; it is the most difficult one in the Cycling tour since it was the Dubai Tour. It sets off at Palm Jumeirah, passing through Al Marmoum, Dubai Autodrome, Al Marmoum Lake, Fossil Rock, Mountain Rock, Hatta Heritage Village and Wadi Hub before wrapping up at Hatta Dam. The UAE Cycling Tour 2019 is taken quite seriously, but the visit of His Highness, Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid has manifestly graced it. In fact, by his words you’d come to know the UAE puts a premium on this event, among others. He said sport is a key component of the comprehensive development journey of the UAE, given the efforts made to develop the right sports infrastructure across the country and encourage people to be more active, as well as hosting international sporting events.
His Highness, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. In his visit to the Cycling Tour, he was accompanied by Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, and Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai.
