The Dubai Fountain – A Brief Overview

Notwithstanding its location, Downtown Dubai, home of the world’s tallest building and one of the world’s largest shopping malls, Dubai Fountain is an attraction to be visited in its own right. How is that? Able to shoot water 50-story high, the fountain is the tallest performing fountain. Added, it is the largest choreographed.

What’s spectacular about the fountain? First up, I’ll describe the fountain as futuristic, in that it synchronizes with the song being played. And, its lights in turn synchronizes with the song. So, they all synchronize. Let’s put this differently and really simply, the fountain performs the song being played or dances to it with water and light. If you’ve seen the foregoing video already, you should know what I’m talking about.

The fountain, a no-mean feat, is brought into being by WET Enterprises and cost about $217 million. It has a unique design comprising five circles of varying sizes and two arcs, and has powerful water nozzles. These are responsible for shooting water up.

Location: Downtown Dubai (See on Google Map)
Operating hours: 6:00 pm – 11:00 pm: A display lasts about 5 minutes with about 30 minutes interval. Dubai-online.com states that two performances come in the afternoon, at 1:00 pm and 1:30 pm.
